Procedures for Filing a Complaint
Initiation Under an Agreement to seek remedy via IAS

The filing party must verify that the inspector is a current subscriber to IAS

The claimant must also submit a copy of the arbitration agreement from the consumer contract with the business

There is a fee of $300 to file a complaint with IAS which can be paid at the time the complaint is filed
The complaint should:

Include the agreement between the parties and a statement explaining the nature of the dispute

List the names and addresses of the consumer and the business

Contain any legal arguments which support the claim

Specify the amount of money involved, if any

State the remedy sought
Additional fees my be applied for copying, shipping/mailing, conference calls, telephone calls, other legal fees, notifications and other related administrative services.
Upon receipt of the claim and payments:
IAS shall review the submissions and then begin the notification process to all parties that a claim has been filed and action sought.
A record is generated, and Agreements may be sent to the parties, which must be executed and returned to IAS prior to further action.
Electronic packages may be sent to the parties, requesting case-specific information, including details supporting or disputing the claims made.
Follow-up correspondence may be requested.
Timelines to resolution are kept deliberately short. Target dates for settlement or decision are typically set at 60-days, maximum.
Information requested shall include copies of the actual inspection report. If the State or Municipality where the inspection took place requires prior written consent of the parties, prior to release of the inspection report, said authorization is expected at the time of document submission.
